Ignite Lunch
Mar 26, 2017 at 12:30 PM
Organizer: Andrew Connors

Our congregation is full of amazing knowledge, stories, and experiences. Every fourth Sunday, over lunch ($5/person donation appreciated) we’ll hear three tight seven-minute presentations from three people. Following the presentations there will be an opportunity for questions and comments.

On March 26 we will hear the following presentations:

  • Bridging the Divide: Segregation and Public Schools: At a time when Maryland's population is growing more diverse, the schools are becoming more segregated. Hear what Baltimore Sun reporter Liz Bowie discovered while examining local attempts to better integrate schools by race and class.
  • The Bach Passions in Our Time: Contending with the Legacy of Anti-semitism: What influence do the arts have on the attitudes that isolate one community from another? Tom Hall (Music Director of the Baltimore Choral Arts Society) will share insights as they relate to Bach's Passion Chorale.
  • The Sanctuary Movement and Brown: Dr. Barbara Cook (Director of the Access Partnership at Johns Hopkins University) will share about her work with the Sanctuary Movement in light of the recent immigration bans.
