James David Christie is a truly exciting organist, and his concert of mostly French works promises to be memorable. Composers represented in this colorful program include Ropartz, Duparc, A. Alain, J. Alain and Tournemire. Christie will also play two compositions by Jean Langlais, who performed at Brown Memorial Church in the 1950s, as well as Christie's own “Élégie” for Langlais. He will be playing Brown Memorial’s renowned 1931 Skinner Organ.

Christie is Professor of Organ at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, Distinguished Artist in Residence at the College of the Holy Cross, and College Organist at Wellesley College. He also serves as organist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, a position he has held since 1978. 

Christie has performed and recorded with major orchestras around the world and has given over sixty concert tours of Europe.
