Suggested Method of Walking the Labyrinth

In the West, we often define meditation too narrowly – limited to monastic traditions of Europe or the ancient practices of the East. Yet any activity that helps the mind slow down and grow quiet can be a form of meditation.

When we step outside of clock time, we enter a meditative state.

Walking the labyrinth is a kind of body prayer. If you find it difficult to quiet your mind, the labyrinth offers a path to focus that restless energy.

Step by step, the mind begins to settle.

Try breathing in with one step, out with the next. Even the simple rhythm of slow walking can bring deep calm.

Release, receive, return

Ask a question –
and insights might gently float
into your conscious mind.
Listen, softly,
for guidance.
Walk in with a heart of amends,
walk out wrapped in gratitude.
The path is simple:
release,
receive,
return.
