This is an opportunity to sit with the growing darkness of Jesus’ arrest, condemnation, and execution. The word “tenebrae” is Latin for darkness or shadows, and this is reflected in a service that progresses from dim light to total darkness amid prayer, music and waiting for the light of Easter Sunday.
