Families with Children

We believe children come to us as gifts from God, entrusted to us to love and nurture, as well as be nurtured by them. We joyfully embrace God’s call to care for each child and to do our best to enhance the gifts of the Spirit given to them.

We believe that the interaction of all age levels provides spiritual development for everyone involved.

Children and Worship

Because worship is the primary place where faith is shaped, we encourage children to be present and active in worship from an early age.  The rocking chairs and children’s worship materials near the front doors of the church, the use of repeated refrains and actions such as candle lighting in worship, and the “Sharing Faith with Children” moment, are all attempts to live out this important conviction.

The Nursery

We also recognize that some parents need this worship time away from their young children in order to re-center and renew. Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers on the third floor of the Fellowship Hall building. Many parents begin worship with their children present, and excuse them to the nursery following “Sharing Faith with Children.” We encourage families to experiment with what works for them.

Education Classes

The education hour includes classes for children and youth of all ages. Rachel Cunningham oversees these programs and is delighted to work with parents to develop a Sunday morning plan.
