The Good Friday Tenebrae service is an opportunity to sit with the growing darkness of Jesus’ arrest, condemnation and execution. The word “tenebrae” is Latin for darkness or shadows, and this is reflected in a service which progresses from dim light to total darkness amid prayer, music and waiting for the light of Easter Sunday. If you are worhsipping from home we encourage you to dim you worship space and screens as much as possible. You may also wish to collect several candles to extinquish throughout the service. Seven will be extinguished in addition to the removal of the Christ Candle.
