In Every Place: Cultivating Subversive Community

Thursday July 14th, 2022

The YCWI 2022 Conference invites you to engage in creating spaces where we can work to dismantle the oppressions in this world that keep people from fully being who God has called them to be. Through presentation, discussion, and worship we will consider the limitations created by humanity such as racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, colonialism, and ageism. We will look towards how, as young clergy women, we can make the church a holy space that moves against these powers. Through participating in local satellite locations, we will have the opportunity to engage in this work in the contexts we serve and find places of collaboration. Guided by the women who have gone before in this subversive work, we will celebrate the witness and faithfulness of women and find our own calling in this work. The Preacher will be The Rev. Dr. Irie L. Session of The Gathering-A Womanist Church. The Keynote will be Brandi Miller, the host of the podcast “Reclaiming My Theology”

The YCWI Conference is being designed as a 1-day local event. The date is Thursday, July 14th 2022. We will have satellite locations scattered internationally, along with a fully online platform as an option. Materials will be provided for participants and hosts.
