Beyond Established Boundaries: An Afternoon with Peter Beinart

Sunday, April 26th at 3 PM – 1316 Park Ave. Baltimore, MD 21217

A meaningful and challenging discussion relevant to the Christian community, featuring Jewish journalist and writer Peter Beinart on his book Being Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza: A Reckoning. This will be an afternoon exploring what it means to walk together “beyond established boundaries,” in pursuit of moral reconstruction, justice, and peace.

The 90-minute conversation will be followed by a light reception and book signing.  

Tickets are $20/person ($10/seniors, $5/students, $50+ for Sponsors) and may be purchased at the door or in advance via Eventbrite using the button below.

Free parking is available in the Mt. Royal School parking lot two blocks away at 121 McMechen Street, with shuttle service to the church. The church is wheelchair accessible.

Peter Beinart, a Rhodes scholar with degrees from Yale and Oxford, is Professor of Journalism and Political Science at the Newmark School of Journalism at the City University of New York. He is a contributing opinion writer at The New York Times, Editor-at-Large of Jewish Currents, an MSNOW political commentator, and a Non-Resident Fellow at the Foundation for Middle East Peace. His newest book, Being Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza: A Reckoning, was published in 2025. Beinart has also written for the Wall Street Journal, the Atlantic, Newsweek, and others. He’s appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Meet the Press, and many other television programs. Currently, he writes the Beinart Notebook on Substack.com.

Welcoming the Baltimore Community and beyond into Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church’s historic sanctuary to foster its mission of working towards justice and peace by supporting culture and the arts.

Our Programming

Typically, each Tiffany Events season includes a choral concert featuring Brown’s Chancel Choir and soloists, and an organ recital showcasing the church’s renowned 1931 Skinner organ. Guest organists have included Frederick Swann. Tiffany musical programs have also included brass concerts, handbell festivals, classical musicians and singers, bluegrass, folk and steel drum musicians and gospel choirs. 

Past speakers have included Congressman Elijah Cummings, Harry Belafonte, Children’s Defense Fund Founder Marian Wright Edelman, peace activist Liz McAlister, Bishop Gene Robinson, the first openly gay Episcopal bishop, and “House of Cards” showrunner Beau Willimon.
