The Tutoring Program’s theme this year is the Seven Continents, and first up was North America. Children were encouraged to create postcards from places they visited, either in-person or through their reading. Faith, age 10, wrote to her teacher about NYC and the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.
From “pin the wart on the witch” to tutors wearing funny masks, the Brown Memorial Tutoring Program celebrated Halloween all week. There were also Halloween themed books available in the library for tutors to read with their students.
Dr. Robert Higgins, husband of Assistant Director Molly Higgins, talks to the children about growing up with a single mother and becoming a heart surgeon! The children were enthralled, asked great questions, and were especially interested in heart transplants.
