READ MORE >This month our church community is donating 30 Zippy Beef or Mac and Cheese casseroles to Our Daily Bread, an organization within the larger network of Catholic Charities. They work to alleviate poverty and hunger in Baltimore City through a hot meals program, as well as job training and counseling services. A team of volunteers at Brown Memorial contributes casseroles every month to this cause.

It’s the unsettling nudge that lets you know that imminent change, however unwelcome, is both necessary and right. And then there are other kinds of discomfort that come with the knowledge that something has gone awry. I felt both kinds of discomfort at the Presbytery’s Vigil for Peace and Justice at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church on the anniversary of the Baltimore Uprising.
