Prayer Service of Thanksgiving

Church members light prayer candles.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.     – I Thes. 5: 16-18

The Thursday evening prayer group is offering a brief service of praising God and offering prayers of thanksgiving prior to the celebration of our traditional Thanksgiving on Nov. 17, 5:30-6:15 p.m. Please join us.

During this service in Brown Memorial’s Sanctuary, we will offer only prayers of thanksgiving for all that has occurred in our lives and attribute our blessings to God. We have lived through both difficult and good times in the past year. We briefly pause to give thanks to our creator.

We will follow our customary practice of sitting quietly and praying the prayers submitted to us. After quiet reflection for silent prayer, prayers from participants will be encouraged.

Unlike our regular prayer time, we will sing a traditional hymn of praise for thanksgiving.

If you cannot attend or if you prefer to attend in silence, you are encouraged to submit a special prayer of Thanksgiving that will be prayed on your behalf. Download the Prayer Service of Thanksgiving flier and place it in the offering plate or submit it to the church office.
