Adult Education Class Begins Series on The Beatitudes

Members of the Adult Bible Study class sit in a circle and discuss scripture.

The Adult Education Class began a new series on The Beatitudes Jan. 22 and the series continues through Feb. 19. This class is a drop-in class with no homework or pre-requirements. Each class is a stand alone lesson.

We invite anyone interested to come hear what The Beatitudes are saying to us now. The Beatitudes are blessings Jesus Christ gave us in the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. The term beatitude comes from the Latin noun beātitūdō, meaning “happiness.”

The Beatitudes of Jesus (Gospel of Matthew 5:3-10):

  • “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
  • “Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
  • “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”
  • “Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
  • “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.”
  • “Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God.”
  • “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.”
  • “Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for their is the kingdom of heaven.”

The Adult Education Class meets every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in the Church House prior to 11 a.m. worship. Learn more about our other classes and small groups.
