Longest Night Service of Lament, Dec. 21, 7 p.m.

Zoom Link

Known also as “Blue Christmas,” a Longest Night Gathering is a safe and sacred space to mourn the losses and griefs of the year, to let the tears flow for the hurting places in our own lives, as well as for our country and our world. The service provides an opportunity for worshipers to write prayers of lament on pieces of paper and then rend them to form a beautiful wreath of laments.

To fully participate we encourage participants to bring the following into their worship space.

  • 4 sheets of paper, roughly 8 1/2 x 11, colored if possible. Magazine pages or newspaper would also work.
  • Writing utensil that will work on whatever type of paper you are using.
  • Stapler or tape
  • Advent Wreath or four candles and something to light them with.
