Students and Church Members “Draw the Circle Wide” during Choir Camp

Members of the Eutaw-Marshburn Elementary choir sing in a concert in the sanctuary at Brown Memorial on July 20, 2017

Members of Brown Memorial, students from Eutaw-Marshburn Elementary, and choirs from two Pennsylvania churches stood side-by-side and filled the sanctuary with song during the second annual summer choir camp, July 17-20, 2017, for EMES students.

The four-day event held at Brown Memorial included daily choral rehearsals, introduction to ringing handbells and choir chimes and other musical activities under the direction of Chrystie Adams, Camp Director and Brown member.

The highlight of the week was a dinner for the choir members and their families, followed by a concert in the sanctuary presented by the EMES Choir. Songs presented included “Let There be Peace on Earth,” “Take me Out to the Ballgame,” “Amazing Grace,” “Let All God’s Children Sing,” and “Draw the Circle Wide.”

In addition to Brown Memorial’s music staff, members of the Youth Choir from Abington Presbyterian Church (Philadelphia), under the direction of John Sall, and the Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church Youth Singers (Glenside, Pa.), under the direction of Rae Ann Anderson, participated and assisted throughout the week.

“Our Eutaw-Marshburn Choir Camp would not have been possible without those who give so generously of themselves and their many talents,” said Michael Britt, Music Minister for Brown.
