What’s New With Adult Education

Adult Education will Take Another Look at Parables, Sunday Mornings, 9:45 a.m.

Join in the Adult Education class this fall to take a new look at Jesus’ parables. Each week we’ll start with looking at photos of theologian/artist Charles McCollough’s sculptures (pictured above and on homepage courtesy of Facebook.com/SculptureByCharlesMccollough) to give us a new way of seeing these very-visual word pictures. We’ll consider the gospel texts, unpack the economic and political context from Jesus’ day, and use group discussion to see what these odd and sometimes confounding stories could be saying to us about our life today.

8 sessions, beginning 9/11 with a 3-week break in October for a unit led by the Global Mission Committee.

Adult Confirmation – Say What?

We have an intrepid group of 8th and 9th graders at Brown who will commit this year to meeting regularly to explore the foundations and fundamentals of our faith tradition.  This year, we are offering a companion adult course, which will make similar commitments to meet weekly and explore the central doctrines of Christianity.  The two groups will occasionally meet together to compare notes, build relationships, and write faith statements.  The Adult Confirmation class will form in September and then become a closed group for the duration of the program year.
