Silent Film and Organ Benefit Concert March 10, 7:30 pm

Brown Memorial is pleased to present a screening of the 1921 silent film, “The Three Musketeers” starring Douglas Fairbanks, on March 10 in the sanctuary. During the film, Michael Britt, Brown Memorial’s minister of music, will perform live, improvised organ accompaniment on Brown’s historic 1931 Skinner organ. This event is a unique opportunity to view a silent film just as audiences did in the early 20th Century when theater houses used pipe organs to provide musical accompaniment as a more affordable alternative to paying a full orchestra.

Our Worship Moves to Madison Ave. Presbyterian Jan. 15

On. Jan. 15, we are delving deeper into our cross-neighborhood, One Baltimore work and also keeping in mind Rev. Martin Luther King’s observation that the Sunday morning worship hour is the most segregated hour in America. We have accepted an invitation from our closest Presbyterian neighbor, Madison Avenue Presbyterian (2110 Madison Avenue), to worship with them at 10 a.m.

Tutoring Program Celebration of Service

During the last school year, Tyion Matthews, then a 3rd grader at John Eager Howard Elementary School, enjoyed a rewarding routine. Taking part in the Brown Memorial Tutoring Program, Tyion was greeted each week by his tutor, longtime Brown Memorial member David Mock. Separated in age by more than 80 years, the two developed a warm relationship.
